Newry boxer Conor Wallace deselected from Commonwealth Games squad
Wallace is a six-time All Ireland champion
Boxer Connor Wallace has been deselected from the Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games squad.
The Northern Ireland Commonwealth Games committee have confirmed that a member of the squad has been deselected.
The Belfast Telegraph understands the athlete is Newry boxer Conor Wallace.
Mr Wallace is a six-time All Ireland champion and has spoken about his hope to turn professional in the future.
"The NICGC can confirm an athlete has been deselected from Team NI for Gold Coast 2018," said the statement. "We are not at liberty to discuss the matter any further."
Track and field athlete Amy Foster has since been called up to the squad.

The Commonwealth Games begin on April 4.
