Newry teen injured in 'appalling' machete attack
A machete attack which left a Co Down teenager in hospital has been blasted as "appalling".
A 17-year-old male sustained an injury to his nose and deep cuts to his arms and legs during an aggravated burglary in Newry yesterday.
He was taken to hospital after a group of armed men forced their way into the terraced property on Talbot Street at around 2.15am.
SDLP councillor Gary Stokes said many residents are feeling anxious following the horrifying incident.
"This is a quiet area which is home to many families and elderly people," he said.
"They are very worried following this appalling attack on their front door.
"Our thoughts are with the young victim."
Mr Stokes urged witnesses to contact police if they have any information.
