Young people from Northern Ireland are taking part at the World Scout Jamboree in the US.

Fionn Mcardle (17), Ewan Riddle (16) and Lucy Moscato (17) from Belfast, and Nathan Dellar (17) from Bangor, are among 5,000 Scouts from the UK joining 40,000 others attending the event in West Virginia.

The jamboree offers young people the chance to learn new skills and different cultures.

Lucy said: "The jamboree has been incredible. Yesterday I went abseiling and I have never done this before - it really helped boost my confidence with heights."

The event was opened by UK chief Scout Bear Grylls, who said: "World Scout Jamborees only happen every four years and tens of thousands of Scouts attend each one. They are incredible festivals of peace, friendship and adventure."
