The father of Nicole Fegan, the young girl who tragically passed away after a road incident in Co Down paid a heartbreaking tribute to his daughter at her funeral.

Cathal Fegan spoke at the end of the service at St Patrick's Church in Mayobridge on Wednesday afternoon and thanked all those who have helped the family in recent days.

Closing his tribute he said: "Our beloved daughter Nicole was a bright shining light who enriched our lives everyday. She had a great circle of friends and we loved having them all at our home. There is no richer sound that a house full of the laughter of children.

"We will eternally miss you and we are grateful for the short time we had you. We will never forget you, our baby girl."

Twelve-year-old Nicole, the youngest of three children in her family, passed away due to injuries she sustained as a passenger in a beach buggy that collided with another vehicle on Newry's Flagstaff Road last Saturday, November 18.

Many of the little girl's friends laid items commemorating her life at the beginning of the Mass. These included a Mayobridge GAA jersey, a Gaelic football and hurling ball, a gymnastics leotard and a set of tickets from a recent Little Mix performance-the first and only music concert she got to attend.
