No bail for sex shop theft accused
A man burgled his neighbouring sex shop after bingeing on beer and a litre of vodka, the High Court has heard.
Michael Farrell allegedly smashed his way into the Miss Behavin store in Newry and stole up to 100 adult DVDs valued at £3,000. Some of the films were later found in the bedroom of a woman's house police tracked him to.
Prosecutors said that he was arrested after CCTV footage showed him leaving his St Mary's Street flat armed with a crowbar and heading for the nearby premises.
Farrell (35) was said to have admitted a charge of burglary and theft.
The front window of the shop was smashed and an emptied till left in the street after the raid on February 13.
Farrell was allegedly seen returning to the store three times during the break-in.
Refusing Farrell’s bail application, Mr Justice Stephens said: “There are no bail conditions I could impose which would sufficiently diminish the risk of reoffending.”
