No court call for husband of Michaela Harte McAreavey?
THE husband of murdered bride Michaela McAreavey may not be compelled to travel back to the country where his wife was killed when the trial begins in June.
John McAreavey has been officially named as a witness for the case in Mauritius but prosecutors have said his presence may not be necessary as they are confident they have enough evidence against the two hotel cleaners accused of her murder.
Michaela, daughter of Tyrone GAA manager Mickey Harte, was murdered while on honeymoon at the Legends Hotel in January.
She had married her Co Down husband just 10 days before.
Avinash Treebhowon and Sandip Mooneea stand accused of the Tyrone bride’s murder and will face a hearing beginning on June 20.
