No one hurt after shot fired at house in Co Antrim

By Amanda Ferguson

A man in his 30s has escaped serious injury after a shot was fired through a window of his home in Co Antrim.

Detectives in Antrim are appealing for information following the gunfire at Elver Avenue in Toomebridge on Sunday.

Police received a report of the incident at around 12.25am.

"It is believed that the damage was caused by a shot being fired," a PSNI spokesman said.

A man aged in his 30s who was in the house at the time was not injured in the incident.

Alliance Antrim councillor Neil Kelly condemned those responsible.

"There can be no justification for this attack," Mr Kelly said.

"There is no place for guns on our streets. Somebody could have been killed or seriously injured.

"The people responsible are a bunch of thugs who have no regards for the lives of other people.

"I would urge anybody with any information about this shooting to contact the police."
