North Belfast bomb scare declared a hoax

A bomb scare in north Belfast has been declared a hoax by police.

The incident in the Elimgrove Street area began on Saturday at around 5.30pm.

After an examination by ammunition technical officers, responsible for dealing with explosives, it was declared a hoax.

Inspector James Murphy said: “A number of homes were evacuated yesterday afternoon as a precaution and I would like to thank residents for their patience while we worked to keep the community safe.”
