North Belfast stabbing victim fighting for his life

By Rebecca Black

A man was fighting for his life in hospital last night after being stabbed in north Belfast. Police sealed off the area as they carried out investigations and later arrested a man.

The 28-year-old victim was attacked in the Shore Crescent area, off the Shore Road.

A PSNI spokeswoman said last night that a 33-year-old was in custody helping officers with their inquiries.

She said police are investigating a serious assault.

Newly-elected Alliance councillor Nuala McAllister said the local community was shocked and horrified at the attack.

“My thoughts are with the victim, his friends and family and I hope he has a speedy recovery following this terrible ordeal.

“Knives are dangerous weapons that are readily available and we all have a duty to be on guard when it comes to this type of crime.

“I would urge anyone with further information on this attack to contact the PSNI as soon as possible to aid them in their ongoing investigation.”
