Northern Ireland domestic abuse cases up by 2,000
An extra 2,000 reports of domestic abuse were received by police in Northern Ireland this year, it has been revealed.
The increase was due to greater public confidence in the PSNI's response, Chief Constable Matt Baggott said.
A DVD, called Family Portrait – Voice Of A Victim, was launched yesterday by police, the Women's Aid organisation and Justice Minister David Ford.
A total of 27,190 reports of domestic incidents were made to police this year compared to 25,196 last year.
