Northern Ireland music teacher faces sex abuse charges trial
A music teacher has pleaded not guilty at Crown Court in Londonderry to sexually abusing five school girls, all of them under the age of 13.
Brian Bergin (59), a father of three from Brookhill in the Culmore Road area of the city, denied 10 charges of engaging in sexual activity with the girls between August 2011 and May 2014.
Defence barrister Stephen Mooney told Judge Philip Babington that complaints against the defendant had been made by parents and teachers.
The case was adjourned until January 30 when a date for the trial will be fixed.
The defendant was released on continuing bail.
