Northern Ireland set for warmest day of the year this week

It's time to get the sunglasses and shorts out again - as Northern Ireland is on course to get its warmest day of the year this week.

Warmer air is coming and high pressure is expected to bring a dry, settled spell of weather with plenty of sunshine.

From Tuesday onwards the temperatures are set to rise with sunshine breaking through any cloud. The top temperature on Tuesday is expected to be 19 degrees.

This will increase from Wednesday to Friday.

BBC weatherman Barra Best made his prediction on Twitter that the warmest day will come at the end of the week.

He said: "Warmer air is coming.  We're likely to have the warmest day of the year, so far, later this week - most likely Thursday/Friday."
