Northern Ireland to benefit from boom in staycations
A third of Northern Ireland holidaymakers say they are planning to stay in the UK this year, rather than travel abroad.
A survey from Barclays says 31% of people quizzed would now choose to stay here, rather than go overseas, regardless of time and finances. More than half of guests here selected Northern Ireland as their top holiday destination in the UK.
Across the UK, half of respondents choosing a UK break said "the familiarity of food, language and travel options" were reasons to stay. Adrian Doran from Barclays said: "Northern Ireland is well placed to benefit from a booming year for British staycations."
