Northern Ireland weather warning for heavy rain

Certain parts of Northern Ireland have been issued with a yellow weather warning for heavy rain.

Outbreaks of rain will become heavy across some parts of Northern Ireland this afternoon and evening.

County Antrim, County Armagh, County Down, County Londonderry & County Tyrone will be the most affected.

Torrential downpours are expected with 10 to 20mm falling in an hour and as much as 30 to 40 mm in several hours.

Some short-lived heavy thundery downpours may cause isolated flooding and affect prone sections of road and disrupt travel - drivers are to take precaution and allow extra travel time.

The rain will ease early tonight with county Antrim last to see the rain clear.
