Northern Ireland woman guilty of £37,600 benefit fraud
A woman was convicted at Newry Magistrates' Court on Monday for claiming benefits she was not entitled to.
Margaret McDonagh (39) of Ardcarn Park, Newry claimed Housing Benefit and Income Support totalling £37,648 while failing to declare capital.
She was given a nine month prison sentence suspended for two years.
The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department for Communities.
