Officially roasting: Northern Ireland bakes on hottest day of the year

Monday was officially the hottest day of the year - so far.

But it could look like it will hold its title for at least the rest of the week - not that it will get that cold in the coming days.

A reading of 24 degrees was recorded at Castlederg. On Tuesday, it was confirmed a reading of 25.1 degrees was the final top temperature.

Mist or haze can be expected on Tuesday morning which should clear for more blazing sunshine and then another fine day. Although there will be rather more cloud around than of late. Light winds. Maximum temperature expected to be around 23 °C.

For Wednesday to Friday it will remain mainly dry with sunny spells. Overnight Wednesday and into Thursday and Friday looks cloudier with outbreaks of rain, perhaps thundery, though still some warm sunny intervals. Light winds.
