Omagh backs gay marriage

Omagh District Council has become the second local authority in Northern Ireland to pass a motion in support of gay marriage.

Last night one DUP and two UUP councillors voted against the motion, but it was carried by 10 votes to 3.

On July 2 Belfast became the first council to support same-sex marriage, although unionist councillors left the chamber before the vote.
