Ombudsman investigating after pedestrian hit by car being pursued by police in Belfast

A female pedestrian was hit by a car which was being pursued by police in Belfast.

After 3.20pm on Thursday police began pursuit of the vehicle in the Clifton Street area of the city.

The car then hit the pedestrian before making off and then hitting another vehicle on the Newtownards Road at around 3.30pm.

Both the female pedestrian and the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision have been taken to hospital for treatment on injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

Two men have since been arrested in relation to these incidents and they are assisting police with their enquiries.

The PSNI has informed the Police Ombudsman of these incidents.
