On course for charity

by Chris McCann

Former Irish League player Glenn Dunlop — founder of Make A Difference Worldwide — is Teeing Up for the charity’s inaugural Charity Golf Day at Mount Ober Golf Club next week.

Dunlop visited the course earlier this month with groundsman William Jackson, who said the competition was an opportunity “for golfers to see the work we have put into the course over the last several years”. “We are really excited about the event and will be working hard to make sure everyone enjoys their day out,” he added.

The undulating greens offer some tricky putts and your play will be tested by a series of very good par threes with panoramic views of Belfast from the third tee and 12th green.

Glenn said: “Everyone has worked very hard to make the event a success from the generosity of the sponsors, staff at Mount Ober and our volunteers.

“Everything is ready and I would encourage golfers not to miss this event. Proceeds will purchase building materials for the construction of a care centre for orphan children in Malawi.”

The event, which is open to golfers of all abilities, takes place on Monday, August 30.
