On your bike for Green Mile

This week you may notice more pupils than usual walking and cycling to school in Newtownabbey.

That’s due to Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Schools Green Transport Week, which kicked off on Monday, June 14.

The council is running the competition as part of the Two Wheels: Two Weeks’ programme being promoted by Travelwise Northern Ireland, which started on June 13.

Five schools in the borough are taking up the challenge to see who can clock up the most green miles: Mossley Primary School, St Mary’s on the Hill, Fairview Primary School, Doagh Primary School, and Ballyclare Primary School.

Two prizes will be presented — one to the school which manages to clock up the most miles in total, and one to the school who clocks up the most miles per pupil, so all schools, regardless of the size, will have the chance to win the competition.
