One arrest after drugs found in car and house

By Staff Reporter

A woman has been arrested in south Armagh after police found suspected cannabis in a car.

The discovery was made on Wednesday in Keady.

The PSNI said the car was stopped during routine policing duties.

After the suspected drugs were found in the 42-year-old's vehicle, the car was seized and a house in Keady later searched. A quantity of suspected cannabis resin and cocaine was found there.

Detective Inspector Keith Gawley said: "The woman was arrested on suspicion of a number of drug offences. She was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.

"This drug search and seizure was not planned by officers, but came about after they perceived suspicious behaviour. It is important, however, that you contact police if you have concerns about drugs in your community on the non-emergency number 101 or alternatively via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
