A man has been killed and another seriously injured in a horror road crash in Co Antrim.

The collision involving a motorcycle and a car happened on the Coast Road outside Larne, yesterday morning, the PSNI said.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but the man's life could not be saved.

A spokesman for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said it dispatched a rapid response paramedic and two A&E crews to the scene. The air ambulance was also tasked to the scene of the accident.

Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, another casualty was transported by road to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

The Coast Road from Branch Road into Larne town was closed yesterday after the collision.

Yesterday's fatal crash brings to 12 the number of people killed on Northern Ireland's roads this year to date.

At the same point in 2017, the grim tally had already reached 17.
