One person in hospital after road traffic accident near Holywood train station

One person has been taken to hospital following a road crash in Holywood.

Emergency services were called to Marine Parade at around 8am on Tuesday morning.

A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service spokesman said it was called to the scene at 8.04am.

One emergency crew, one rapid response paramedic, one doctor and one officer were despatched to the incident.

The charity air ambulance was also tasked to the scene.

Following initial treatment at the scene, one patient was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

The A2 was closed for a period of time while emergency services dealt with the incident.
