One person is in hospital following a crash involving a van and a motorbike in Co Down.

The collision happened shortly before 1pm on the Newcastle Road in Ballynahinch.

A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service spokesperson said they dispatched one emergency crew, one doctor and the Air Ambulance to the scene.

"Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, one patient was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast," the spokesperson added.

Police have appealed for witnesses following the crash.

“Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage available to contact on 101, quoting reference number 582 of 14/05/19," Inspector Darren Hardy said.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
