Orange lodge remembers Titanic victim Morrow

A Co Down orange man who perished with the sinking of the Titanic 100 years ago has been immortalised on a new banner commissioned by the lodge he once belonged to.

Former worshipful master Thomas Rowan Morrow was a member of Drumlough Heroes LOL 153 in Rathfriland when he boarded the Titanic in 1912 in Queenstown, now Cobh in the Republic, as a third class passenger en route to visit his brother in Canada and died along with 1500 other victims.

Current worshipful master Derek McDowell said: "We are delighted to be able to remember our late friend Thomas on this new bannerette, the only piece of public art to remember Ulster's only third class passenger who perished on Titanic. We shall carry this new bannerette with pride and whenever in public, communities will see our story as well as remembering the 1912 Titanic disaster."
