By Brendan McDaid

Children in the north west are set to take centre stage at the Féile 2012 in Londonderry.

Derry's largest community arts and cultural festival will feature a programme of music, drama, art and sport specifically designed for children and young people.

Sandra Doherty, co-ordinator of children's events at Féile, said: “This year's festival is an exciting opportunity for children and teenagers to enjoy a multitude of fun activities across 10 days.

“Féile 2012 will be a fantastic chance for the kids to really get creative and enjoy all the entertainment on offer.”

Musical highlights for young people include Féile's Got Talent on Tuesday, August 14, a Musical Family Bingo on August 13, with children and guardians competing for prizes by guessing the sounds while the same evening brings the first Disglow to take place in the Gasyard, whereby luminous accessories will be the dress code for under-11s to get their groove on to the latest chart hits.

Féile 2012 is taking place at various venues in Derry from now until Wednesday 15.
