A outdoor gym at Falls Park in west Belfast has been damaged after being set on fire.

In recent months there have been a spate of similar acts of vandalism at the same park.

In July it was reported that an estimated 200 youths ripped up the rubber floor of a children's play park and used the pieces as missiles to throw at the police.

The most recent incident happened on Tuesday night, and saw equipment set on fire and the floor ripped up and set on fire.

Write on Facebook a spokesperson from the PSNI's West Belfast division said: "This unfortunately is a setback, as over recent months extensive work and enforcement action between ourselves and Belfast City Council has seen the amount of anti-social behaviour in the park reduce significantly.

"Why are you doing this? You're only damaging your own community facilities."

They also appealed for parents to know where their children are, and that the PSNI would "continue to invest time in dealing with this problem and use the necessary and appropriate criminal justice solutions".
