Pair arrested after man attacked with hammer in west Belfast home

Two men have been arrested after a man was attacked with a hammer in his own home in west Belfast.

The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning in the Springmeadow area.

The 30-year-old victim answered a knock at his front door at around 4am in the morning and was confronted by two men and a woman.

He was assaulted by the men before his attackers took off.

The pair, aged 39 and 30, were detained a short time later and remain in police custody.

Inspector James Murphy said: "Anyone with information that could assist the police investigation is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 275 26/05/18."
