Pair arrested after stolen car crashes in to police car in Co Down

Two police officers have been injured after a suspected stolen car collided with their vehicle.

A 26-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of a number of offences following the incident on Friday night.

Responding to reports of a domestic incident in Donaghadee at around 11pm, the officers saw a car, believed to have been involved, travelling on the Movilla Road into Newtownards.

The car failed to stop for police when signalled to do so and then struck the police vehicle a number of times as it made off, PSNI said.

The officers, who were in the police car at the time, sustained non-life threatening injuries.

A short time later, the vehicle was located in the Drumhirk Avenue area of Newtownards.

The pair have been released on police bail pending further investigations.
