Pair arrested after work men threatened with taser and van burnt out

Two men have been arrested after work men were threatened with a taser and a van was burnt out.

The attack happened during the early hours of Tuesday morning in the north Belfast area.

Shortly before 1am two men on bicycles approached a work vehicle parked close to the Fortwilliam Roundabout.

One of the men then threatened two workers inside the van with a taser before the crew made off.

A short time later the men then set fire to another work van parked on the roundabout.

There was no one in the van at the time.

Police made two arrests, including a 24-year-old man who was held on suspicion of arson, common assault, possession of an offensive weapon and going equipped for theft.

A second man, aged 19, was arrested on suspicion of arson and possession of a prohibited article.

Both are helping police with their enquiries.
