Two men have been arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life after a pensioner’s home was damaged in a fire.
The men — aged 21 and 20 years old — were arrested following the blaze in Market Street, Ballycastle at around 12.30am on Saturday.
The 65-year-old woman was alerted by four passers-by at 3am. They helped to get her and her dog out of the house.
Police said they believed a burning rag had been placed in the letterbox.
The front door was badly damaged and there was smoke damage inside the house.
A motive for the attack has not yet been established.
Police have appealed for information.
Both men have been subsequently released on police bail pending further inquiries.
