Two people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder by police probing a shooting on the outskirts of west Belfast.

The victim, 34, was shot in the ankle during the gun attack on Monday afternoon. Police are questioning a 14-year-old boy and a man on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police said four men burst into their target's home in Lagmore.

A PSNI spokeswoman said: "The 14-year-old youth and 49-year-old were detained in the White Rise area this morning. Both are being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.

"Police searches at a property at White Rise have also uncovered a number of items including two firearms and a quantity of ammunition. Army technical officers have been tasked to examine the firearms and a number of homes may have to be evacuated."

Police later seized two vans in the White Rise area containing machetes and other blades.
