Pair released on bail in Belfast murder investigation over body found in street

Police investigating the murder of a man in north Belfast have released two men, aged 26 and 28, on bail pending further enquiries.

The pair were arrested following the discovery of a man's body in the Orient Gardens, off the Cliftonville Road shortly after 10pm on Wednesday.

It is understood that the body of a man was found by two people driving in the area.

A PSNI spokesman said they are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

Sinn Fein MLA Gerry Kelly said there was a sense of shock in the area on Thursday morning.

“While the circumstances of the man's death are unclear at this time, the PSNI have stated that they are treating the death as murder.

“I would appeal to anyone with information which may assist the police to bring it forward.”
