Pair sent to prison for New Year's Day sex attack on teen girl

BY Michael Donnelly

Two men have been jailed for a New Year's Day sex assault on a teenage girl.

Tomasz Wnek (39) and Ishak Nasr Dokkan (25) pleaded guilty to the attack.

Belfast Crown Court heard that the 18-year-old, who cannot be named to protect her identity, had been out celebrating the New Year with three friends. They later argued and fell out, and around 12.30am the teenager was told to leave a club by door staff.

Prosecuting counsel Kate McKay said the victim walked to Royal Avenue in search of a taxi home but stopped at a Spar shop and spoke to the two defendants and asked them "if they knew if there was a party anywhere''.

Judge Gordon Kerr QC was told that she walked with Polish national Wnek, of no fixed address, and Sudanese-born Dokkan to his second floor apartment at SHAC Housing Association in Donegall Street, Belfast. She said "Wnek forced himself on her" and "started touching and kissing her" and Dokkan joined in.

She managed to escape and reported the matter to police.

Wnek was sentenced to four years in jail – two years in custody and a further two on licence. He was also placed on a sexual offenders prevention order for 10 years. Dokkan was sentenced to 10 months in prison.
