Paisley takes break from the election to give a helping hand
DUP politician Ian Paisley has swapped the hustings for harvesters in a new challenge.
Visitors to this year’s Balmoral Show may find themselves being directed to a parking spot by the outgoing North Antrim MP.
Mr Paisley has volunteered as a steward at the agricultural extravaganza after an appeal from the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society’s president last year.
He said: “I’ve always attended the show and have been a member of the RUAS for decades, so giving something back was really a very easy task.
“Obviously coming in the midst of an election wasn’t something that was planned, but I believe my time at the show will not be wasted in any way.“Northern Ireland has a fantastic agri-foods business and I believe the Balmoral Show is a wonderful showcase of our premier industry.”
