Pam's People: Horses, wine and boats, just my kind of week

By Pamela Ballantine

The sun shining is not normally a problem but when you have planned your outfit for a best dressed competition in the middle of September you may have to have a rethink, which is what Rachelle Liggett did at Down Royal to become the winner of a fabulous spa weekend at Galgorm Resort. It was lovely to see so many stunning outfits as the sun beamed down on the race-goers at the Charles Hurst Premium Summer Evening of Racing.

Wine tasting, food, entertainment and doing your bit for charity, now that is my kind of evening and it took place recently at the Ceili House in Monea near Enniskillen. Charles Robb from Robb Bros Wine Merchants joined forces with Brian Cullen from the Wine Shop in Enniskillen for this fundraising evening in aid of Down's Syndrome Association and the Children's Heart Unit Fund

Another Fermanagh company has been making waves – this time at the Southampton Boat Show, where many of us may be filled with aspirations of cruising the high seas in a luxury yacht, but it is also a place where a lot of business is done. Westwood Marine Leisure, owned by the Leonard family, recently unveiled its latest luxury cruiser at Crawfords Marina at Carrybridge on Lough Erne. At the launch Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster and I could only dream about sailing away to the Med on a vessel built entirely here.
