Pam's People: Icing on the cake as best dressed lady off to Dubai

By Pamela Ballantine

You know autumn has arrived when the Belfast Giants return to the ice at the Odyssey. It's a great night out and one which many companies chose to entertain guests at. This is what Jonny Cook, MD of Peninsula Care Services, did to celebrate the firm's birthday and its expansion, as well as announcing its continued sponsorship of leading goalscorer Kevin Saurette. Just as well the Giants beat Edinburgh 8-2!

Downpatrick Racecourse recently hosted representatives from the United Arab Emirates and they were so impressed with the facilities they decided to add a bit of investment in the form of sponsorship of a couple of races at its popular Ladies' Day. They also offered a prize to the best dressed lady of a trip to Dubai for the Racing World Cup. The seven finalists were all presented with Senna make-up goodie bags but Nicole Caldwell is the lucky lady getting a year's supply of make-up and will be turning heads in Dubai in March.

Once again the Ulster Tatler pulled out all the stops for its People of the Year awards in association with Optilase. Tim McGarry was the host for the glittering event at Belfast City Hall, with everyone from interior designers to hairdressers, celebrities and business people being recognised. The world of sport was well represented and I was delighted to be sitting with the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award, the Clones Cyclone Barry McGuigan.
