Parade riot man given 18 months

A man who pleaded guilty to throwing stones at police during a riot after a Somme Commemoration parade in Belfast sullied the memory of the First World War soldiers, a judge has said.

Judge David McFarland said he did not know what the soldiers would have thought of 21-year-old Craig-Lee Williamson's activities on July 2 last year.

Williamson, from Victor Place, who had a previous rioting conviction, was jailed for 18 months and will serve another 18 months on supervised licence.
