Paramilitary attack: Man in serious condition in hospital after being shot in both legs

A man has been shot in both legs during a paramilitary-style attack in west Belfast.

The victim - who is in his 30s - was attacked at Woodside Forest in Poleglass on Sunday night.

He was shot in both legs at around 9pm.

He was then taken to hospital for treatment and is said to be seriously ill, but stable.

SDLP councillor Brian Heading said the shooting was a "savage attack".

"This is another brutal and savage attack that must be condemned by everyone," he said.

"There is no excuse for this kind of callous attack. I would encourage anyone in west Belfast, or indeed any community, to bring evidence of criminality to the police so that it can be deal with by the lawfully constituted authorities."
