Pastor packs them in for Christian rally at Ravenhill
More than 12,000 people gathered at Ravenhill Rugby grounds in Belfast to attend a Christian rally.
Pastor James McConnell, the leader of the Whitewell Metropolitan Tabernacle church, said he was prompted to hold his last big rally because of the growing “despair from members of my congregation”.
Among in the crowd were the First Minister Peter Robinson and fellow DUP politicians Sammy Wilson and Nigel Dodds.
As well as regular churchgoers, there were people from all walks of life and ages. Spiritual music seemed to be the spark and there was much hand-clapping, toe-tapping and singing along with The Worship band and The Tabernacle Choir.
Young people from the Blaze Drama Team also entertained the crowds and later they heard a string of testimonies from members of the Whitewell congregation.
