A man has died following a serious crash on the Saintfield Road between south Belfast and Carryduff.

The pedestrian was killed in the collision on the A24 Saintfield Road at the junction of Baronscourt at approximately 1.45pm, Thursday afternoon.

South Belfast MP Emma Little-Pengelly tweeted: "Devastating news of a loss of life on the Saintfield Road this afternoon."

The DUP representative added: "My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this dreadful time."

 

The Saintfield Road has re-opened to traffic following the collision.

The PSNI are appealing for witnesses to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on the non-emergency 101 number, quoting the reference 637 of 31/08/17.
