Pedestrian hit in early morning Newtownards crash - appeal for taxi driver to contact police

A pedestrian was injured after he was hit by a car in an early morning crash in Newtownards.

The 36-year-old was taken to hospital after the incident on Georges Street just before 1am.

Police said his injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this stage.

Sergeant Des Davison has appealed to a taxi driver who reported the incident to the ambulance service to contact Police at Newtownards as he may have information which could help with enquiries.

It's thought the driver may have witnessed the incident.

Police also appealed to anyone else who was in the vicinity of Georges Street at the time of the collision to contact them on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 68 28/05/17.
