Pedestrian seriously hurt after road accident in Bangor

A female pedestrian in her 30s has been seriously injured after being knocked down by a car in Bangor, Co Down.

The accident happened outside a business premises on the Belfast Road between the West Circular Road flyover and Abbey Street, shortly after 8am on Friday morning. 

The pedestrian's condition has been described as serious.

"A woman in her 30s has been taken to hospital for injuries that are believed to be serious at this time," the PSNI said.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.

The Belfast Road has reopened.
