Penguin patrol as Belfast Zoo staff take stock of wildlife
Keepers at Belfast Zoological Gardens have been kept extra busy this month, performing their annual stock-take of animals.
There are more than 600 animals and over 120 different species.
The January head count is part of the zoo's licensing regulations to ensure the accuracy of its computer records.
These records are maintained and stored in a central and global zoo database which links more than 20,000 animal care professionals working in more than 1,100 zoos and aquariums right across the world, recording a total of more than 22,000 species and tens of thousands of individual animals.
