Pensioner (82) remains unaccounted for after fire at Co Down farmhouse

An 82-year-old man remains unaccounted for following a fire in Co Down.

The blaze took hold at a farmhouse in at Ballynafern Road in Annaclone at around 7.20pm on Saturday.

A search operation for the missing man is underway.

A number of fire engines remain at the scene.

John McCallister MLA - who lives close by - said the community was in shock.

"I mean, obviously I live very close to here. I could see the fire literally as soon as I got up this morning, it was huge," he told the BBC.

"The entire community is in shock - just the ferociousness of the fire and tragic loss - such a sad loss for the family. It's unbelievable."
