Pensioner Pat 'serious but stable' after break-in ordeal

By Claire O'Boyle

The 83-year-old woman who fell from a window during a break-in at her Aughnacloy home remains seriously ill in hospital.

Pat Davidson was alone when four men gained entry on Tuesday night.

It is understood the widow jumped from an upstairs window trying to escape the intruders shortly before 9pm.

Craigavon Area Hospital last night described her condition as "serious but stable".

People in the Co Tyrone border village gathered on Thursday night for a vigil to show their support for Mrs Davidson.

Rev Ian McKee, minister at Mrs Davidson's church, said the mother-of-two was being supported by her two sons.

He added: "Mrs Davidson is a very well-liked person, she goes about her business, and to think something like this could have happened in her home is appalling.

"People in the community are rightly shocked by this and they need reassurance from police and other agencies."

The PSNI has appealed for information relating to two vehicles - a dark coloured car bearing the registration GK56 AEG, and a silver car, possibly a Ford Focus.
