Pensioners attacked

Police are appealing for information following attacks on the homes of two elderly pensioners in the mid Donegall Road area. In the first attack, on Monday, at around 11.20pm, a brick was thrown through the front window of an 84 year old woman's house. The resident narrowly escaped injury, as the brick landed on the sofa where she had been sitting.

In the second incident which took place in Pandora Street, the home of a 90 year old man was damaged when grey gloss paint was thrown over the front door and front window of the property. It is believed that this occurred between 10pm on Tuesday and 9am yesterday.

Sergeant Barry Black appealed for witnesses to come forward: "Any incident of criminal damage is upsetting for the victim, but where the victim is elderly it can be a very traumatic experience, that creates a sense of fear which is difficult to overcome.

Anyone who may have information on these attacks is asked to contact Police at Lisburn Road on 0845 600 8000 or alternatively information can be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
