Pensioners targeted by bogus caller

By Adrian Rutherford

Police are investigating after a fraudster targeted two pensioners in Co Down.

In the first incident on Friday morning a male entered the home of an elderly resident in Dullisk Way, Comber, claiming he was working for the Water Board.

After he left the householder discovered that an amount of cash was missing from a bedroom.

Later it was reported that a male, claiming to be working for NI Water, called at the home of an elderly person in Moat Street, Donaghadee.

The householder refused the male access to the property and he left.

Detective Sergeant Melanie McGrory said: "We are investigating a possible link between these incidents and are appealing for anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the incidents to contact detectives in Bangor on 101, quoting reference 425 or 710 of 15/09/17."
