Petrol bombers hit police vehicle in west Belfast

Police came under attack from petrol bombers in west Belfast on Saturday night.

Shortly before 11pm, a PSNI vehicle on the Whiterock Road was struck by two petrol bombs thrown at it.

No-one was injured and enquiries are continuing. Police at Grosvenor Road are appealing for information.

Meanwhile, a security alert led to the discovery of a “viable device”.

A suspected firearm and ammunition were recovered during the operation at the Stewartstown Road, Dunmurry.
