Photofit released of man after assault bid on girl

Police from the Rape Crime Unit have released a photofit of a man they want to speak to about an attempted sexual assault.

The attack took place at around 7.30am on January 19 when a 17-year-old girl was walking along the pathway at Lynden Gate Park, Portadown.

Her attacker approached from behind, grabbing her and forcing her to the ground. He is then believed to have knelt on top of the victim and exposed himself.

The man ran off when a female passer-by approached.

He is described as being in his late teens or early 20s with dark facial stubble. He was wearing a navy tracksuit along with a beanie hat and a dark scarf. It is understood he spoke with a local accent.

Police want to speak to the man depicted in the facial composite or hear from anyone who may have information in relation to his identity.
